We cannot say for sure, but it really looks as though this cat is the first cat’s father, or at very least this cat is what the first cat grew into. Other than that we have little explanation for how they came to look so similar. Unless it is that cats back in the day all had the same sort of facial expression in photos. As though they had developed a consensus that they did not like the idea of hoomans photographing them and so they all decided to avoid looking cute in their photos at all costs.

Well, we will be darned if Brunnhilde does not look rather dashing in her costume. It is so heartwarming to know that our relationship with cats has not changed all too much at all in the roughly 100 years since this photo was taken. That, if anything, us and our cat children have only grown closer and cuddlier since then and that these sweet photos stand as proof to the ground work we laid all those many years ago. Though one thing that stands out about this cat is how she seems to be smiling, which is not something you might expect to see from a cat who has been cajoled into a costume.
